Reuters said on Monday (November 17, 2025) that Saudi Arabia had deposited around $90 million into the accounts of the Central Bank of Yemen, as two economic support payments announced by the Kingdom to the internationally recognized government in Aden.
On September 20, Saudi Arabia announced economic support to the internationally recognized Yemeni government worth 1.38 billion Saudi riyals ($368 million).
The agency revealed that the new grant will be provided under the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen with the aim of supporting the government’s budget.
This support comes at a time when the government is suffering from a stifling and unprecedented financial and currency crisis, which has resulted in a four-month delay in the payment of civil servants’ salaries.
The Chairman of the Presidential Council, a number of Council members and the Prime Minister returned to Aden on Monday from Saudi Arabia.
According to Reuters, the Central Bank began disbursing overdue salaries of civil servants since Sunday, after the arrival of Saudi support amounting to $90 million.
